Months have different lengths, so we use the average month of 30.44 days (365.25 days divided by 12). That keeps the count smooth instead of jumping on the first of each month.

How many months until Christmas?
The number above shows how many months until Christmas, to two decimal places. Months are different lengths, so we use the average month: 365.25 days divided by 12, or about 30.44 days. That keeps the count smooth instead of jumping on the first of each month.
If you prefer whole calendar months, think of it this way: from late October there are November and December to go, so "about two months" is a fair everyday answer. For a precise count, use days until Christmas or weeks until Christmas.
When is it 3, 2 and 1 month until Christmas?
- 6 months until Christmas: Thursday 25 June 2026, sometimes called "Christmas in July" season by shops.
- 3 months until Christmas: Friday 25 September 2026.
- 2 months until Christmas: Sunday 25 October 2026.
- 1 month until Christmas: Wednesday 25 November 2026, the day before US Thanksgiving.
These use calendar months, counting back to the 25th of each month.
